Hamilton Janke is proud to spotlight the national recognition of Senior Solicitor, Georgina Price, who was named a Lawyers Weekly 30 Under 30 Finalist

The Lawyers Weekly 30 Under 30 Awards are a significant milestone for young lawyers in Australia, highlighting some of the industry’s most promising emerging legal professionals.

For Hamilton Janke lawyers, Georgina being named a finalist was a well-deserved recognition of her skill, dedication, and the impact she has made in her work. Her achievement reflects the high standards of advocacy she consistently delivers for our clients and the professionalism she brings to every matter.

A Strong Foundation in Law and Advocacy

Georgina joined Hamilton Janke Lawyers at the start of 2025, with a diverse and impressive academic and professional background. She completed a double degree in Law (first Class Honours) and Philosophy, Politics and Economics at the Australian National University. It was here that her early interest in policy and law reform evolved into a passion for advocacy through her work at Legal Aid ACT.

While studying, Georgina gained valuable practical experience as a paralegal, a corporate clerk at MinterEllison, and as an associate to Magistrate Jane Campbell. Following her graduation in 2021, she worked within the ACT Courts during the pandemic, helping vulnerable clients navigate the legal system, an experience that solidified her commitment to criminal law and led her to forgo a corporate graduate role in favour of an associateship with her Honour Judge Traill in the District Court of NSW, where she contributed to the state-wide role out and implementation of the Child Sexual Offence Evidence Program (CSOEP).

Making a Real Impact

Georgina began her legal practice as a solicitor with the Aboriginal Legal Service (ALS) in Newcastle, where she quickly distinguished herself. At the end of 2023, she was promoted to become the inaugural solicitor in the Women’s Bail Advocacy Program, an initiative funded under the “Closing the Gap” framework.

In this role, Georgina played a key part in achieving remarkable outcomes for clients. In particular, Georgina and the WBAP team ensured that all pregnant women involved in the program were able to give birth in the community rather than in custody. This stood out as a defining career moment for Georgina, highlighting the tangible human impact of her work.

Her practice in criminal law has been driven by a genuine desire to support people through some of their most difficult moments and to guide them through the complex and often overwhelming legal process.

Role Within The Firm

Now at Hamilton Janke Lawyers in the role of Senior Solicitor, Georgina appears in the NSW Local, District, and Supreme Courts in bail applications, sentences, appeals, and defended hearings. Georgina also instructs counsel in complex trials and has appeared in coronial inquests. She remains motivated by both the intellectual challenge of the law and the importance of advocating for clients during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

In the office, Georgina is described as an exceptional mentor and advocate. Her accessibility and willingness to provide guidance on technical legal issues, strategic decision-making, and general words of wisdom are felt by everyone in the firm.

“She is a vibrant and tenacious colleague, an absolute asset to our team,” says Skip Wilcox, Junior Solicitor.

Lawyer Weekly 30 under 30 Nomination

What the Recognition Means

The Lawyers Weekly 30 under 30 Awards celebrate excellence across the legal profession nationwide. Being named a finalist in criminal law is a particularly meaningful distinction.

As Georgina reflects, “In Criminal law, moments of success look very different than in other areas of law. There aren’t the same big celebratory moments like closing a major corporate deal – often, a ‘win’ is a client’s relief at getting through an incredibly difficult time. This nomination provided an opportunity to step back and recognise the impact of the work we do, particularly during some of the most traumatic periods in people’s lives.”

Her recognition highlights the importance of compassion, resilience, and advocacy in a demanding and high-volume area of practice.

Georgina was joined in celebrating at the awards by fellow Newcastle-based lawyer Caity Walker of the Family Law Co, who was named a finalist in the family law category. Georgina and Caity’s nominations highlight the strength of emerging legal talent within the region.

A Proud Moment for the Firm

The partners at Hamilton Janke lawyers, Drew and James, expressed their pride in Georgina’s achievement, “We are thrilled to see Georgina named as a finalist. This recognition reflects the years of hard work, dedication, and commitment she has shown within the criminal law sector. To achieve this at such an early stage in her career is truly impressive.”

It is a privilege to have Georgina as Senior Solicitor at Hamilton Janke Lawyers. Her nomination reflects the care, determination, and excellence she brings to her work every day. For our clients, this recognition offers reassurance that they are supported by a solicitor whose skill and dedication are recognised nationally.
