According to section 192E, a person who, by deception, 

  • dishonestly obtains property, or 
  • dishonestly obtains financial advantage or 
  • dishonestly causes financial disadvantage  


is guilty of an offence. 

The definition of dishonest can be found in section 4B of the Act, which states 

dishonest means dishonest according to the standards of ordinary people and known by the defendant to be dishonest according to the standards of ordinary people.
